Diabetes A Common Chronic Disease - 878 Words
Diabetes is a common chronic disease that causes problems in the way the blood uses food. The inability of the body to transform the sugar into energy is called diabetes. Glucose is the primary source of fuel for our body. When foods were digested, some of those foods were converted into glucose. Glucose then is transferred into the bloodstream and is used by cells for energy. However, for the glucose to be transferred from the blood into the cells; insulin, which was produced by the beta cells in the pancreas is needed. In individuals with diabetes, this process is impaired. Currently, the disease affects approximately 371 million people of the world s population with incidence and prevalence rates rising rapidly (Alotabi, A., Al-Ganmi, A., Gholizadeh, L., and Perry, L, 2016). According to Center for Disease and Control Prevention (2015), approximately 29.1 million people in the US have been diagnosed with diabetes, placing them at increased risk for the many adverse health complications of poor control. If the current trend follows, it is expected that 1 in 3 Americans will have diabetes by 2050 (CDC, 2015). Diabetes is categorized into three major types as the following: type 1 diabetes mellitus is defined as people with diabetes either have too little or no insulin; type 2 diabetes mellitus is due to the cells cannot use the insulin, so glucose builds up in the blood, and gestational diabetes mellitus is usually diagnosed in either second or trimesterShow MoreRelatedDiabetes : A Common Chronic Disease1230 Words à |à 5 PagesDiabetes is a common chronic disease that causes problems in the way the blood uses food. Music on the brain Essay Example For Students
Music on the brain Essay Who in the classes turns to David or some sort of pharmaceutical when they have headache or are in pain? -Who in the class has ever tried listens to music when they have a headache or are in pain? Have you ever heard of the saying that music is medicine? Well, today I am here to tell you why musical therapy has been proven to be more beneficial then using pharmaceuticals, and how this ancient art form is rapidly developing into a new medicinal science. I want to begin by giving you a history of how music was used to heal in ancient cultures, and how it is used today in modern times. It has the potential to benefit you psychologically and physically without incurring most of the damages associated with chemical stimulants. Sound healing is a rich tradition that dates back thousands of years. The aboriginal people of Australia are the first known culture to heal with sound. The Yiddish is the most ancient of all sound healing instruments. It was used for at least 40,000 years as a healing tool to mend broken bones, muscle tears, and illnesses of every kind. The healing capabilities of the Yiddish proved to be an ancient precursor as to what we now known to be effective ionic treatment, and its function very much paralleled our modern sound healing technology. Similarly, 4,000 years ago the Egyptians employed a type of musical rattle with metal discs called the Sister. This rattle created a pleasant Jangling sound which unknowingly emanated copious amounts of ultrasound frequencies, which is an effective healing modality used in hospitals and clinics today. So, not only was the Sister used to enhance the musical sound escape, but it was also used to enhance healing. Also, in Egyptian sanatoriums, healing temples were used to incubate attends who were suffering from sleep deprivation. Music again played a large role in their treatment, acting as a therapeutic remedy to induce sleep throughout the duration their stay. Sound healing in ancient Greece. The Greek Pythagoras circa 500 BC was in a very real sense the father of music. He was able to unravel the mysteries of musical intervals using a monochrome. He believed that music contributed to health if it was used in the right style. He called his method musical medicine. His believers employed music as medicine as they composed certain oldies to cure the passions of psyche, aggression and anger. While chemical medication was also used in ancient history it mainly utilized plants Music on the brain By devourers that could have once been fatal can now be cured. The largest growth in the pharmaceutical industry came in the sasss due to one major factor, the enhanced scientific understanding of human biology. It wasnt until the sasss and asss that governments began to put in place strong patent systems which were designed to give pharmaceutical firms incentives to innovate and develop new effective medicines. But what does that do to our body? Pharmaceuticals are synthetic molecules, strangers to our metabolism. Generally, most pharmaceuticals have a potent side effect. Anytime a substance significantly changes a neurotransmitter it will cause damage with chronic use. The reason for this damage is the brains natural need and ability to repair its own system. So, What physiological benefits can music have on the brain? Well, proven by scientists music helps people relax, release stress, inspires and motivates us. Resonance is the most important principle of sound healing; it is described as the urgency of vibrations that is the most natural to a specific organ. In sound healing resonance principles are employed to re-harmonize cells that have been imprinted with disruptive frequencies. .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1 , .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1 .postImageUrl , .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1 , .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1:hover , .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1:visited , .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1:active { border:0!important; } .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1:active , .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1 .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ub0e340bb5033d5e2e5e8687b702582c1:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Luke Bryan - Music and Physchological Expression EssayMusic can guide the body into slower, deeper breathing patterns and can induce a calming effect, as heart rate and blood pressure are responsive to the types of music you listen to.
